Scottish Land & Estates is seeking to appoint a Policy Officer to work on business and property issues.
Scottish Land & Estates is a membership organisation that represents the interests of rural landowning businesses across Scotland. Our membership of around 2,500 is heavily involved in a wide variety of business sectors, all of which are vitally important to rural prosperity and sustainability.
The Scottish Land & Estates policy team performs several key functions: 1) it keeps abreast of policy developments in all areas where members have an interest to ensure that members are informed about changes in policy and regulatory framework and it communicates these changes through a range of communication channels; 2) it represents the interests of members at all stages in the policy development and legislative process, influencing Government policy at local, national and European level; 3) it responds to queries from members on policy topics; 4) it develops, or raises awareness of, good practice across a wide range of policy areas of relevance to members; and 5) it researches new opportunities for land based businesses so that members are aware of forthcoming opportunities and challenges.
The Policy Officer (Business & Property) will be required to identify and develop key policy issues for the rural sector, with a focus on rural business and property issues, produce policy briefings and technical guidance, provide advice to the membership and take the lead on areas such as planning, housing, tourism, utilities, broadband, landlord/tenant relationships and wayleaves. The role will also involve considerable engagement with a wide range of stakeholders as well as representational and lobbying activity.
Salary will be in the region of £25,000 to £28,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, and will be offered alongside a generous holiday entitlement and a contributed pension.
